Shelters: Smithville Recreation Center. Pets may be taken to the Bastrop County Animal Shelter and large animals may be taken to the Bastrop Rodeo Arena.

Update 5 p.m.: Fire now 25 percent contained and 34 structures destroyed (mostly homes).

Update 2 p.m.: The number of acres went up from 4,200 acres to 4,383. 400 homes are currently evacuated.

Chief Nim Kidd with the State Emergency Operations Center says the situation is “very dynamic” and everyone needs to prepare for the fire to become bigger.
